Butt Free Australia launches a national awareness campaign on Monday 29 March, designed to change butt littering behaviour and reduce the environmental problems caused by cigarette butt litter.
The innovative 'Not a Good Look' campaign depicts butt litterers – real people - being photographed in the act of littering, as if caught by a CCTV network. It will use a combination of billboard and hospitality venue advertising, and community service announcements.
It conveys the message that littering is 'Not a Good Look' for neither for the litterer nor the area being littered. It encourages the broader community to reassess its attitudes to cigarette butt littering and reminds smokers to PLEASE BUTT IT, THEN BIN IT®.
The campaign website - www.notagoodlook.com.au - will be launched in early May to coincide with Butt FREE City 2010, Butt Free Australia's flagship campaign in partnership with local government. As well as educating people about the impacts of butt litter, the website will provide tools to do something about it, including the opportunity to get a FREE personal ashtray.
